Anime Image Board Listing

January 28th, 2009

imageboardThis post is continously updated.

Anime Image Boards are a great source for anime images, and they frequently contain rarities and vip quality work at times. I have continously searched and come across countless anime image boards, too many to remember, so I decided to create a listing of them.

-

E-shuushuu

A kawaii-themed image board.  The site itself is worksafe and has a friendly community. I have been an active member in the mast and made several image contributions. I still frequent e-shuushuu, and even participate on some community activities.

Pixiv

Pixiv,which is more of an art commuity than an Imageboard. Images are limited hosted range from personal artwork to fan-made sketches or illustrations. Several profound fan-artists post their work here, so you might want to keep tabs on it. The site is Japanese though, and requires registration.

Moe.imouto

Image board for high-resolution anime scans. Contains NSFW. ’nuff said.
//–

4chan

Straightforward, 4chan is a simple image-based bulletin board where anyone can post comments and share images. Probably the largest and most popular English image board on the web. Offers lots of categories.
//–
Konachan

Similar to moe.imouto, but instead of high resolution scans, Konachan hosts anime wallpapers of all sizes.

//–

Akibakko

Another Danbooru type imageboard, I feel this board deserves a spot because of the good variety of images they have to offer… I’ve have acquired some really nice images/fanart from here.

    Ah, e-shuushuu. Good memories there. I still browse through in search for images I need. Sadly, I’ve moved on and retired from image contribution but there are a few ppl I still managed to catch up. ^^

    Rather than being an image board, Pixiv is more similar to a digital art community in the likes of DeviantArt and such (they even published an artbook/guide book on some of the best artworks of Pixiv). Although it does use a tag system the images submitted are all artworks done by the users themselves, where on the other hand on a normale image board you can upload anything and it doesn’t matter if you’re the original author of the image.

    @ShiNN

    Ahh,… I see, I always wondered why Pixiv was limited to artwork and fanwork. Thanks for the info. updated.

    I honestly prefer animeartbooks.net, but eshuushuu, moe imoutou and akibakko has a large variety of decent images as well.

    Thanks ;D I knew about 2 of them beforehand, but I REALLY appreciate the thought into going into this post. It’s about letting the world know and not hiding the “cool secrets.” Props ;D
