Hymmnos and Fonic Symbol Fonts

Role-playing games often make use of symbols or writing in a completely different language, to really bring the story alive. It gives depth and adds more realism to the story envisioned by the creators. These often invite curiosity and interest, especially for one such as myself. These writings reveal a mysterious aura, and a message unknown to many.

Two such games are Ar Tonelico and Tales of The Abyss. Both games include symbolic fonts that are very much alike.

Finding Truetype Fonts for these symbols is quite rare. So it is somewhat fortunate to obtain these fonts.

The Hymmnos Language from Ar Tonelico.

Hymmnos is a language from the time before the two catastrophes that destroyed the world, and is used by Reyvateils to interface with the tower. It is represented in-game by unique glyphs. Though it used to be a universal language, its meaning has been lost through the ages and is now used only for Song Magic.

Although it is a synthetic language constructed solely for the game, it is translatable and not just pure gibberish … The basic Hymmnos grammar consists of “emotion sound(想音)-V-O-C”, and many words are taken from existing languages; mainly English, Japanese, Sanskrit and German.

The Fonic Language from the Tales of the Abyss.

Tales of the Abyss features Ancient Ispanian, in which, for instance, Yulia’s fonic hymns are written and sung. (Abyss also uses “fonic script” in some places, but that’s apparently just the alphabet that the people of Auldrant use.)
The Fonic Language, which the Fonic Script is the alphabet for, is the modern tongue in Auldrant, and pretty much just English in pretty symbols. However, as Ispania is taken to be another word for Spain, a theory exists that Ancient Ispanian is Spanish, Latin, or some Latin derived language.

Final Fantasy XIII – Trailer

Square Enix has released the latest trailer for FFXIII, and I simply must say, it looks amazing. Hands down. I’m in awe. Eye candy everywhere. The trailer shows some cutscenes and gives an idea of how battle scenes will be like.

Back in the days of the PS2 and FFX, I thought it couldn’t get any better than this, I laugh at it now for I have been proven wrong time and time again.

The Final Fantasy series has come a long way and shows no signs of stopping.The upcoming installment of the series, Final Fantasy XIII will be available for the PS3 and the Xbox 360.

In a surprising turn of events,… it seems one of my anime wallpapers, a vector of Fate Testarossa from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha A’s, has been turned into a psp skin by a fellow Japanese fan, and even provides a video guide on how he made it.

As you can see, it took quite a bit of time and effort to turn the it into a wallpaper.

Neutral Escape Games

Neutral’s Escape games are a challenging set of flash games where the objective of the game is to escape out of the room. You have to make use and interact with the objects inside the room to ensure escape. The games require a certain amount of logic and creative thought, as well as an inquisitive mind.As far as I know, it is the best of it’s genre. All the other room-escape games I have seen, seem to lack the visual style and atmosphere that Neutral’s games carries.

Undoubtedly, am sure it is worth your while.^^

By far, the most intricate of these games is the one entitled ‘VISION‘. It’s also the first one I played and the first room I escaped. I highly recommend it to anyone
